I watched this movie on Sunday at Stonestown, and it was seriously the only movie to make me seriously cry like a baby in a really long time.
Bea Alonzo plays Lara, whose husband, Oliver (Derek Ramsay), passed away from an aneurysm on her birthday. Chris (Sam Milby) plays a tenant in Lara and Oliver’s old apartment who is in the process of annulling his marriage to his unfaithful wife (Maricar Reyes). I think what really got to me is the fact that even though I’m not dealing with death right now, it’s something that really struck a chord with me, because it was all about allowing yourself to be happy, even when you feel like you shouldn’t.
I love Tagalog movies - I know, they’re not always cinematic masterpieces, but they always seem to linger in my mind more than most American movies.
Hopefully going to watch ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ sometime this week before school starts. Let’s see if that one hits me as hard as this one. :)
